Charles W. Snyder was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Boston Latin School and Boston University, before attending graduate school at the University of Virginia. There he studied the history of England and wrote a thesis about Edward Bulwer, Lord Lytton. Charles went on to obtain his law degree from the University of Georgia, and practiced law for over forty years, including six years as a staff attorney for the Federal Election Commission in Washington D.C., and the remaining years in private practice in Savannah, Georgia.
Aside from his law practice, Charles has kept busy in a variety of activities. For example, he served several terms as an officer of the Savannah Branch of the English-Speaking Union. Also, he not so long ago won his age group in a local 5k race for two consecutive years. He has been a frequent speaker at various venues, addressing legal as well as historical topics. In addition, he has participated in many community theater productions. It may truly be said of Charles that in his time he has played many parts.
But his best and favorite role has been as husband to Sylvia. They have together nurtured and loved a succession of beautiful Cavalier King Charles spaniels. Charles and Sylvia have also shared a love of cozy mystery books and movies. Indeed, it was that love, along with his prior study of Lord Lytton, that culminated in Charles’s writing his first novel, Murder at Knebworth.
